No Mow May

Making your garden a more wildlife-friendly and ecologically diverse place, simply by doing nothing is a pretty appealing prospect. But that is what “No Mow May” offers.

May is a time of abundant growth. Your grass will be growing rapidly along with wildflowers. These flowers are an important source of nectar for bees, who are, unfortunately, threatened. Not mowing, or partially mowing your grass at this time of year can provide an important nutritional benefit for these vital creatures. Allowing wildflowers to complete their flowering cycle by simply not mowing, will mean more bees in your garden and more of their pollinating activity.

You don’t even need to leave all the grass uncut. By all means, keep a path to the garden shed clear. Or decide on a wildflower patch that you will allow to mature, whilst mowing elsewhere. As long as you are allowing wildflowers to mature, that will help.

Greyhound is a responsible gardening business. We want you to get the most out of your garden, and what could be better than the buzz of happy bees on a warm, spring day. We would be delighted to work with you to meet all your mowing requirements. Whether you want a tidy trim or a plan to encourage wildlife, just give us a call to discuss.
